(ORC) THANKSGIVING BASKET DRIVE

Date & Time: Saturday, November 22, 2008, 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM

Location: Operation Relief Center, 2010 Grand Ave Dallas, TX US 75215

Coordinator: Ysavel Medina ()

Sponsored by: Spoken For International Youth Outreach, DFW area churches and The Ridge Church

Thank you for participating in this year’s basket drive. The Thanksgiving basket drive began back on the Saturday before Thanksgiving in 1992. From that time, almost 4,500 baskets of food have been given to families living in South Dallas. This year we are hoping to fill 150 baskets as a church!

Here are two ways to help:

1.)  Please fill this “laundry” basket with non-perishable food items that can be prepared to feed a family of 6-8 on Thanksgiving Day (see ideas below). Then return the filled basket to The Ridge Church at 4561 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton, TX 75010 by Wednesday, November 19. Just leave your basket along the walls in the Children’s Welcome Center. The baskets will be picked up early Thursday, November 20th and taken to the Operation Relief Center at 2010 Grand Avenue in South Dallas on Saturday, November 22nd.

We will be buying the turkeys and pies from Minyards in South Dallas. The turkey and pie will cost $20 for each family. If possible, please put a donation for the turkey and pie in the attached envelope and mail it to Spoken For, or you may place it in the drop box in the Children’s Welcome Center. Please make checks out to: Spoken For International Youth Outreach and mark the memo line, “turkey”.

2.)  If you would like to help distribute the baskets of food on Saturday, November 22nd, please go to our website at: www.spokenfor.org, click on the button marked ORC BASKET PROJECT and fill out the short form so we can get a count of how many will be helping and give you directions. We encourage all ages, especially families to come and help. The project will begin at 10am and end at 2pm. Sack lunches and cold drinks will be provided for free to all our helpers.
