Surrendering the funding of our lifestyle

We continue to look at the life completely surrendered to Christ this week. This week we look to Genesis and the testimony of God’s faithfulness to His fallen creatures in the Garden of Eden. In this beginning book we see the outworking of God’s promise widen greatly with the life of Abram. Abram is a man of great faith, but he is also an ordinary guy who has struggles with fear and trust in the Lord. We see with Abram that there is a lifelong and daily journey and process of learning to surrender his will. Part of that process included for Abram is his lifestyle and its funding and so it is with us.

We all have a certain lifestyle. What we like, our different taste in different things, habits, attitude and standards. That lifestyle has to be funded or supported, so the question for us is will we surrender our lifestyle support? How much? Will it just be certain areas or all of it?

Howevers (Sensual Living and Abortion)

We continue to look at the life completely surrendered to Christ this week. This week we look at the life of King Solomon. Solomon was a man of greater wisdom and riches than all the other kings of the world. His life was going good until he came to the big howevers in his life. This week we will see how a surrendered life can get derailed when we intermarry with the culture of the world. One thing that we will see is Solomon's lack of defense for the lives of children seen through his worship of the god of Molech. Today this translates to the issue of abortion. We cannot overlook this important calling that we have to be a voice for those in the womb. We look forward to having you on this Sunday, which is the Sanctity of Life Sunday.

Tremble at God's Word

The life surrendered to Christ trembles at God's Word. This week we look into how we approach the Word of God and what does it mean to tremble at it. Be encouraged this week to make the Word of God a priority in 2010.

Surrender All

The song, I Surrender All, has been sung for years in churches as an anthemn and declaration of the Christian life. What about today? Is the heart of that song the declaration of the church? Words like, all to Jesus I surrender, do they mark the Christian's life? The Christian life is a surrendered life to God, as both Savior and Lord. This week we begin with this month's challenge to truly live a surrendered life.

Focus on Community in 2010

The Book of Acts describes the beginnings of the Church and the journey of those early church pioneers. The Holy Spirit-driven apostles and early church leaders were focused on one thing, the spread of the Gospel as the truth of God. Many miracles and events happened along the way, displaying the power of the Holy Spirit and the sovereignty of an almighty God. From this book we see the necessities of community, prayer, abiding in God’s Word and missional living as the key elements to a Christian life. For 2010, it is vital that we focus on the significance of community and its fundamental place in the Christian life and the Church. This Sunday we’ll take a look at community as portrayed in the book of Acts and share some practical ways we can be modeling that same Holy Spirit-driven life in 2010.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 4.10-23

This week we conclude our study of Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi. Paul encourages us to be content no matter what the circumstances are. In fact, Paul’s contentment is independent of circumstances, whether bad or good. Paul is not superman and does not expect us to be either, but He knows God. He knows that God is strong and willing to provide all of His needs. It is also to God that Paul gives the glory to as He closes out His letter. Paul is content for the glory of God. May we live with such a perspective as we go into 2010.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 4.1-9

We continue to walk through Paul’s letter to the church at Philippi this Advent season. This week Paul encourages us to stand firm in the Lord when it comes to our relationships, joy, gentleness, anxiety and thoughts. We must have resolve, so we do not grow weary and fall away.

Sacred Joy: Philippians 3.12-21

Today Paul encourages us to continue growing in maturity. Sadly, many in the church rarely progress in their faith. As we continue forward, holiness and the things of Christ should become more and more attractive while the things of this world become less and less desirable. This was the case for Paul and he encourages us today to follow his example.
