Engage Discipleship Evangelism

The purpose of the Discipleship Evangelism (DE) ministry is to equip believers in the areas of personal evangelism, follow-up, and discipleship. The content and methods used are based on Biblical principles and support the main mission of the church - to go and make disciples (Matt.28:19-20) by equipping believers to do the work of service (Eph.4:11-12).

Trainees benefit from a combination of classroom instruction and on-the-job training during weekly visitation in homes. We practice what Jesus did as he trained the twelve disciples:

• Tell them what and why
• Show them how
• Get them started
• Keep them going
• Make sure they pass it on

Once the training is completed, a trainee becomes a trainer who is responsible for recruiting others and passing on what they have learned. Most people who complete a year of DE training will develop confidence in doing lifestyle evangelism, and will catch the vision of one-on-one discipleship found in 2 Tim. 2:2.

The curriculum is based on the Evangelism Explosion gospel presentation and Navigator follow-up and discipleship materials. Training cycles are offered twice a year, starting in September and February and participants are asked to make a one year commitment.
