Whose Son is He?
Jun 21, 2010
This is a question that every human being needs to be asked:
What do you think about the Christ, whose son is He? Matthew 22.42
This is what Jesus asked the Pharisees. The Pharisees responded and said, The son of David (22.42). The Jewish leaders believed the promised Messiah would be a human in the royal line of David, but not deity. Some others at the time of Jesus Christ, accused Him of being an illegitimate son, a child born out of wedlock, the son of a Roman soldier who cohabitated with Mary, and Mary was an adulteress, and thus Jesus was an illegitimate child.
Mormons believe that Jesus’ birth was the result of a physical relationship between God the Father and Mary. Mormons believe Jesus is a god, and that any human can also become a god. Jehovah’s Witness and Muslims believe that Jesus was a created being, not eternal and not God. CS Lewis said about Christ, He was a liar, a lunatic or Lord.
One of Jesus’ disciples, Peter, said to the question, You are the Christ, the Son of the living God (Matthew 16.16). Another of Jesus’ disciples, Thomas, after Christ’s resurrection was unbelieving and upon putting his finger into the holes in Jesus hands and his hand into His side said, My Lord and My God (John 20.28). May the question be asked and may our answer be as Peter and Andrew say, He is My Lord and My God!
