Bible Reading: Psalm 58
Psalm 58 (Please read scripture from your bible.)
David uses this Psalm to address the leaders and their unrighteousness. He asks God to deal with the evil that is being done in their work. As we see he prays for God to break their teeth which would shut down communication of their injustices. Furthermore, he prays for God to destroy these evil judges. Wow, what a prayer!
It is interesting that David did not sit around and complain about the injustice. He did something about it, he prayed. His prayer was vivid and specific. His prayer did not just focus on the injustice (problem) but concluded with focusing on God (solution). As we read this passage many current day events and people come to mind with all the injustice in our world.
As we stand up for injustice may we be like David go first to God giving Him our frustrations, cares, concerns and trusting Him for resolution. As we do, it is my prayer that our comfort and encouragement will come as we persevere in living a just life for the Lord.
