Seeing Jesus With the Wise Men

Who were these Wise Men? These Magi? Why was all of Jerusalem troubled about the possible birth of a new King? About about this star? What's the deal with that?
We love to speculate about things and love trying to read between the lines of scripture. Sometimes in our quest for truth we get so distracted with side issues that we miss the main thing - actually the main person - JESUS!
Does it really matter what the gold, frankincense, and myrrh symbolizes or how Mary and Joseph spent this windfall? The main person of Christmas is Jesus. And when the Wise Men saw HIm they forgot all about the star, Herod, and gifts on their camels. They worshipped God revealed in a baby.
May we forget all the side issues of Christmas, celebrations, family, and gifts in order to bow before the One that matters most.
