The Mission of God and the Church: Living a Sent Life

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: The Mission of God and the Church Topic: Kingdom of God Passage: Matthew 28:16–28:20

Matthew 28.16-20: The Lord reigns; let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad (Psalms 97.1). The consistent echo throughout Scripture is that God reigns and that He desires for all peoples to find their great joy in His glorious reign in their life and world. As we learned last week, this is the mission of the church, to make people alert to the universal reign of God and His superior worth in Jesus Christ. Today, we continue with looking at the sent-ness of the church. For too many our sent-ness is defined by merely being sent to a local church on Sunday morning. The desire this morning is for you to see that Jesus has called you for so much more than just a casual and comfortable existence in this world where your relationship with Him is merely defined by your tail in a cushy seat on Sunday. I pray the Lord of the harvest sends workers to the plentiful harvest today.
