Kingdom Identity, Purpose and Ethics

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: I Believe Topic: Beliefs Passage: Genesis 1:1–1:2

What defines you? This is one of those big questions of life dealing with one’s identity. Today people find identity in many different things. Not only is identity one of those big issues of life, but so is purpose. Who we are defines what we do. Or another way to put it, who we believe we are defines what we do. So, as Christians in a post-Christian society, where is our identity found, where do we fit and what are we to do? To help address this we begin a new series today entitled, I Believe. We are going to look at the core beliefs of the Christian faith, as that which defines us and gives us purpose for everyday life. To help with that through this series we will look at the Apostles’ Creed.

The Apostles’ Creed

I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ his only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary.

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead and buried.

The third day he rose again from the dead; he ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father almighty.

From there he will come to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins,

The resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting.
