Matthew: The Great Commission
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Discipleship Passage: Matthew 28:16–28:20
Matthew 28.16-20: On June 13, 2010, we began our journey through the gospel of Matthew. Today we close out our study with the climax and pinnacle to which all has been pointing to. Jesus is King and Matthew has pointed to that. Jesus is King not just of the Jews, but of all nations. He has authority over everything. The big question that comes out of Matthew’s gospel is, Does He have authority over your life? If He does then today’s closing words give us a mission and a purpose to which all who claim Jesus as Lord and Savior should be obeying and living out daily. We are called to go and make disciples. You have heard this before probably, but the prayer today is that you would hear it afresh today and that your heart would be awakened to Christ’s command. I pray today’s message causes us to evaluate our life and calendar. May our ambitions for worldly pursuits become as rubbish today and instead may we have our passion renewed to obey Jesus and do what He says.
