Ephesians: Overwhelmed with Praise for the Work of God in Christ

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Ephesians: The Church's Identity and Mission Topic: God Passage: Ephesians 1:3–1:14

The title of today’s sermon says it best. The apostle Paul begins his letter in the first chapter with praise (1.3-14) and prayer (1.15-23). We will look at the section of praise today that is truly an overwhelming hymn of praise to God. You can’t help, but read it with a stirring in your heart and soul. Within these words of worship we are taught some amazing truths of how we have everything we need from God. We truly as His children lack nothing. We have been chosen to be in God’s family to become His holy people and all of this is made possible through Christ. The magnitude of Christ and His work on the cross is felt in these verses today. Jesus is everything and the cross is essential to God’s work of forming the church. Without the cross none of the blessings we have of today are possible. As Paul tells us of past and present blessings in Christ, we also see where everything is heading in Christ. Praise God for our glorious future to come. So much great truth today – may we praise God for all His goodness in Christ.
