The Hope and Joy of the Resurrection
Series: Standalone Sermon, Not Part of a Series Topic: 1 Passage: Acts 2:22–2:33
Acta 2.22-33: Today, we celebrate the greatest day in history - the remembrance of God raising Jesus up from the grave. Our Scripture text for this Easter morning is most astonishing to say the least. Peter is preaching on the day of Pentecost and speaking of the work of God through Christ’s death and resurrection. As he testifies of God raising Christ from the dead he uses the witness of David, saying that he looked ahead and spoke of the resurrection of the Christ. This is amazing. As David looked forward to the Messiah’s resurrection it gave him great hope and joy. He knew because of Jesus’ resurrection he would always have the presence of the Lord with him. There was no greater joy for David. So, what about us this Easter Sunday? Is our hope and joy in the Risen Savior? Do we love the Lord’s presence like David and find it as our great joy? May God stir our hearts like David this Easter.
