Sacred Psalms: A Joyful Soul

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Sacred Psalms Topic: Joy Passage: Psalm 84:1–84:12

Psalm 84: Today’s Psalm is most glorious with a familiar verse that says, For a day in Your courts is better than a thousand outside. I would rather stand at the threshold of the house of my God than dwell in the tents of wickedness. This Psalm celebrates, rejoices in and longs for the presence of God, declaring that there is no better place to be. Do we long to be in the presence of God more than anywhere else? The writer of this Psalm shares his longing to be in God’s presence by visualizing God’s temple and the journey to it. Though we don’t have to go to a temple to experience the presence of God, the picture causes us to ask this morning, Do we long for God and to worship Him like this Psalmist does? May we be stirred for more intimacy with God this morning as we look into Psalm 84.
