Living on the Verge

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: iWitness Topic: Prayer Passage: Acts 1:12–26

Acts 1.12-26: Christians are people who live on the verge of something. The body of Christ is organic and we live on the edge of change, transformation and daily growth. We live on the verge of opportunities every day, whether it is the person we meet in the coffee shop, the neighbor we see or a person with a flat tire on the side of the road. We are a people waiting in prayer on the verge of God’s answer. We are people who wait on this side of finiteness on the verge of being embraced by future grace. We are on the verge of the consummation of the coming kingdom of God. We are a people on the verge.  As we gaze into the first century again this morning, in Acts 1, we see eleven men on the verge of something great. They are on the verge of the Christian mission spreading to and throughout the Jewish world and the Gentile world. They are on the verge of the spreading of the gospel throughout Jerusalem and eventually to Rome. So, as believers what does living on the verge look like? Let’s answer that together today.
