The Church, A New Society

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: iWitness Topic: Church Passage: Acts 2:42–47

Acts 2.42-47: Do you bake? Anyone who bakes knows that if you are off on one ingredient the whole taste and edibility is thrown off. For example, if you are making pancakes and you forget the egg you won’t have a good pancake. So, it is with the church community. In the first church, we see some important essentials that they were committed to that must be present or things get off track. When the church practices these essentials the outcome is a church that lives out the ways of the kingdom of God that Jesus taught. The Israelites had dropped the ball as a people when it came to living out the ways of the kingdom of God. Now here the church is restoring God’s vision of a new society here on earth living out the ways of the kingdom of God. This morning let’s catch God’s vision for the church and be about the essentials, so that we can live out the ways of the kingdom.
