Encouragement for the Journey

Series: iWitness Topic: Discipleship Passage: Acts 13:1–12

In Acts 13 the book shifts, now focusing on the Gentiles and the spread of the church around the world. Paul now replaces Peter as the central figure in the Book. We see the Lord assembling a great team of people at the church in Antioch. Paul and Barnabas are called out to go on mission to spread the hope and truth of the gospel but it does not come without some challenges and distractions.
We will quickly see that Barnabas serves a key role in the spread of the gospel, often encouraging Paul as he served. Encouragement is something we all need as well as something we all need to give to others. As we look at this text today, may we both be challenged and encouraged as we take a deeper look at how God used these men and women in Antioch to stay on mission!
