A Simple Passion in 2017
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Standalone Sermon, Not Part of a Series Topic: Glory of God Passage: Isaiah 26:8
What is a verse or scripture passage that is your go to? It may be one you hold to when things get rough, you go back to for a needed exhortation or challenge to get back on track or one you share with others to encourage them. Well this morning I want to go back to a verse to begin the new year that is all of those things for me and has especially been on my heart this past week when looking ahead to 2017. I first came to know this verse in 1998 on the first day of the year at a conference for college students in Austin. For 19 years now it has been my go to. I have taught it before in a couple of settings over my 12 years here, but wanted to go back to it this morning with some encouragement for 2017. So, join me this morning in looking at Isaiah 26.8, Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your truth; we eagerly wait for You; for Your name and renown is the desire of our hearts. Let us look inward at our own hearts this morning as we look forward to 2017 and may the glory of God be our heart’s passion this new year.
