Only The Bible Can Do That!

Speaker: Graham Hagood Series: Life Verses Unpacked Topic: Trust Passage: Hebrews 4:12

How does a person come to believe that the Bible is really true? There are many valid paths to take. Clearly, the Bible has stood the test of time. Plenty of historical, archeological, and manuscript evidence has been discovered over the centuries pointing to its veracity. Given that the books of the Bible were written over about 1500 years, strong arguments can be made on the basis of internal coherence and consistency. And then there’s all the fulfilled prophecy relating to Jesus. Despite all this evidence and more, I came to trust in God’s written Word through another path. Something specific happened in early adulthood. That something? I actually read it, on my own, with an open mind and heart.

I was raised in a Christian home, attending church regularly, but I didn’t read or study the Bible on my own in any real meaningful way until I was discipled by a man here at The Ridge. I was surprised and very convicted how the words peeled back my veneer and exposed my inner thoughts. How could this book know me so well? When I read Hebrews 4:12 the ring of truth was deafening and it all made sense.
