A Trustworthy Servant For The Sake of the Gospel
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Gospel in Life Topic: Discipleship Passage: 1 Corinthians 4:1–13
Jesus said to His disciples, “A disciple is not above his teacher, nor a slave above his master. It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master (Matthew 10.24-25a).” For Christians, Jesus is their teacher and master. When we look at Jesus’ life there are many words we could use to describe Him, but one of the ones that is most fitting is servant. Jesus was a servant. As His followers we are to imitate the same servant attitude and life that Jesus lived for the glory of God and the sake of the gospel. Paul and the apostles understood this very well, but the church in Corinth struggled to do so. Today, let us be encouraged to be humble servants like Jesus.
