Jesus, Our Sin and Wrath Bearer

Luke 22.39-53:  As we continue in our study of the gospel of Luke we  go from the Upper Room to the place called Gethsemane, a garden on the slopes of the Mt. of Olives.  This is a custom of Jesus to go here and pray to the Father along with His disciples.  Here the weight of all that is coming is upon Jesus and with real and raw emotions He depends on the Father’s will and the strength of heaven.  Jesus in prayer, on this night before His death on the cross, is a model for us.  The only way we can face the day to day struggles and temptations of this life and live out the Father’s will is the way Jesus did and that is in fervent prayer.  Let us depend on the Father above just as Jesus did.
