Matthew: Break Bread Together
Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Kingdom of God Passage: Matthew 14:13–14:21
The miracle of feeding the five-thousand reveals much about the character and ministry of Jesus. Beyond the miracle of multiplying food, Jesus' instructed his disciples to trust him in order that others may be fed. Beyond that, Jesus is the one who continues to feed those who choose to follow after him. While in the wilderness in Exodus, the young Hebrew nation were fed by manna. While following Christ, many were fed by the loaves and fish. At the last supper, the disciples broke bread with their teacher as he revealed the life-giving nature of his life, death and resurrection. Today, the church continues to break bread together and feed upon the life-giving nature of Christ. This week in Matthew 14:13-21 we see how Jesus fed then, and continues to feed now as the true bread of life
