Matthew: The Compassionate Christ

Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Love Passage: Matthew 20:28–20:34

Matthew 20.28-34: Do you ever feel like you have a need or a problem that is too big to bring to Jesus? Or maybe you feel like you have a need or problem that might seem too small or insignificant to God? There have probably been times that we have all found ourselves in one or both of those places. In today’s text, Jesus shows us that He cares about the biggest and smallest of needs. What might seem too grand to someone or maybe insignificant to another is something that Jesus cares greatly about. In fact, so much so that He wants you to come to Him with that need or problem no matter how big or small. In this simple, yet marvelous story we see the compassion of Jesus. Jesus’ compassion is big enough to redeem the world and yet personal enough to touch one’s blind eyes and soul to bring healing both physically and spiritually. (Mark 10.46-52; Luke 18.35-43; 1 Peter 5.7)
