Matthew: Something Greater
Speaker: Jerry Witham Series: Matthew's Gospel: The King and His Kingdom Topic: Advent Passage: Matthew 26:57–27:10
Matthew 26.57-27.10: As we continue through Matthew’s gospel writing this Advent season, we are encouraged to have a holy remembrance of the incarnation leading to the crucifixion. Today we get a glimpse into the night before and the morning of Jesus’ crucifixion. This is the moment He came for. It is in this moment that He publically testifies to being something greater. This bold statement will lead to His death, which becomes something great for those disciples who fled; Peter the denier; Paul the persecutor; David the adulterer and even you and I. The message of Christmas is that something greater has come. His name is Jesus. What happens to Him in His final hours on earth seems like something bad, when in all reality is something great for you and I.
